Is the watch accidentally stopping working?
Is it a malfunction when the watch accidentally stops? As long as it can return to normal afterwards, it can be temporarily ignored. Because there are some accidental factors, such as forgetting to insert the thread, forgetting to push the handle after inserting the needle, or accidentally experiencing vibration during use that causes the hairspring to hang up, or a certain part to get stuck, which can cause a stop, but can then be restored to normal in a timely manner.
The above issues are normal, but if there are frequent shutdowns, they need to be inspected and repaired.
Automatic watch stop: increase the number of arm swings
It's not a performance issue to stop the new watch twice after ten days, otherwise it would stop every day. The most likely cause is insufficient movement while wearing the watch, less arm swing, and even insufficient power of the watch.
In today's society, there are more people sitting and working, more people driving and taking cars, and fewer people walking. Hand winding (string filling) has become a necessity for wearing an automatic watch, otherwise it will lead to insufficient watch travel time, frequent stoppage, and poor travel accuracy. You should know that an automatic watch is not as absolutely 'automatic' as people imagine and understand it. So, it's better to call an automatic watch an "arm swinging auxiliary winding device", perhaps this is more appropriate.
Processing method: The automatic watch has an automatic winding mechanism, which is used to wind the watch by swinging the arm. Except for a few Japanese watches, automatic watches can be strung by hand, which is used to compensate for the lack of automatic strung or the lack of physical activity worn.
Deviation phenomenon: rolling the inner pile of the circle for adjustment
Severe "skewing" phenomena may also cause the watch to stop running. Due to insufficient shellac or improper bonding position, when the watch is severely shocked, it may cause the disc nail to fall off. The disc nail is usually fixed in the corresponding hole of the double disc with shellac.
In fact, the reason for the watch to stop running is more likely not due to a malfunction in the swing wheel spindle system, but a special malfunction in the swing wheel spindle system can still cause the watch to stop completely. When the phenomenon of deviation is severe, it may cause the watch to not move and even stop swinging.
Solution: For wristwatches without a flowing outer pile ring structure, the swing clamp plate should be removed together with the swing wheel and hairspring. Use a small screwdriver to extend it to the elastic groove of the hairspring inner pile, and roll the circular inner pile to adjust.
When the cycloidal hairspring system is in a balanced position, the center of the disc nail is not on the line connecting the center of the pendulum shaft and the center of the escapement fork shaft, and there will be a phenomenon of lateral vibration. Once the disc nail falls off, it cannot add energy to the swing wheel hairspring system. After the hairspring rebound ends, the watch stops.
Solution: When adjusting, pay attention to the direction, angle, and other related issues of rolling. The safety gap can be reduced by adjusting the limit screw to be less than the full lock value.
Anti pendulum phenomenon: may self release
The tip of the escapement gear teeth slides onto the impact surface of the fork shoe, generating an impact force that causes the fork body to turn towards another limit pin. When swung over, the disc nail leans against the outside of the bell mouth, which is called reverse swing. When the reverse swing phenomenon occurs, the watch completely stops moving.
The anti swing phenomenon is one of the faults that cause the watch to stop completely. If the safety gap is greater than the full lock value or the fork pin is too short, the escape mechanism may release itself under external instantaneous impact interference before the disc pin enters the bell mouth.
Solution: If the length of the fork head nail is short, it is necessary to adjust the fork head nail or replace the appropriate escapement fork component to avoid encountering the phenomenon of lateral oscillation. The flow outer pile ring can be adjusted.
Magnetization: Iron block is the rescue method
When in contact with objects such as generators and electric motors with strong magnetic fields, or when accidentally placing a watch near a radio or television, the watch will be magnetized by the magnetic field of the generator, electric motor, radio, and television. After being magnetized, watches not only have inaccurate timing, but some even stop running.
Solution: It is best to send the clock repair department to demagnetize, as there are specialized equipment for demagnetization. If it is inconvenient to maintain the watch shop far away, you can find a circular iron block in the middle that is not magnetized and stand it on the table. Slowly thread the watch through the iron circle, and the magnetism on the watch will be absorbed by the iron block.
